Riders should choose the category that best matches their experience and desired level of challenge.

• Cat 1: The most experienced category, with the longest race distance.
• Cat 2: The intermediate category, with a mid-range race distance.
• Cat 3: The entry-level category, with the shortest race distance.

Categories describe the level of challenge. The exact distance and number of laps may vary by category and venue.

The course, lap count, and estimated distance for each category will be announced for each event. Distances may change from race to race based on the trail layout and conditions. Riders are responsible for reviewing the event’s course information and following the marked course.

For reference, the current 29 Pines plan is a 7-mile lap: Cat 3 one lap, Cat 2 two laps, and Cat 1 three laps. Lincoln Parish Park’s 9-mile Brown Loop has been identified, but its lap plan is still to be confirmed after the course check.

• A helmet must be worn and securely fastened whenever riding.
• Follow course markings and officials’ instructions. Do not shortcut the course or skip a lap.
• Pass only when it is safe. Call out before passing; riders being passed should make room when it is safe to do so.
• Give other riders space, especially in narrow or technical sections. Ride within your ability and be aware of changing trail conditions.
• Do not litter. Carry out wrappers, tubes, and other waste.
• If you leave the course, re-enter at the same point where you exited. Tell a race official if you cannot continue.

The event flyer or registration page will provide each race’s start times, category distances, lap counts, course map, and any venue-specific instructions. Organizers may adjust the course or schedule for safety, weather, or trail conditions.
